Wakefield sportswear firm sprints into the lead with 60% turnover increase in one month
Wakefield work and sportswear firm Xamax has announced impressive monthly figures, increasing its turnover by 60% in December 2014.
With comparable sales of £215k in December 2013 to £350k in December 2014, the company’s success can be attributed to its focus on innovation, expansion and targeting new markets.
In 2014 the business invested more than £500k into the refurbishment of a 30,000 sq. ft. unit, which is base to its offices, manufacturing and warehousing, as well as the design and build of a customer facing retail unit.
A £20k grant from the Leeds City Region Local Enterprise Partnership’s Business Growth Programme (BGP) allowed Xamax to purchase the latest state-of-the-art machinery, which also supported its capacity, turnaround times and therefore growth.
In addition, thanks to recent funding from the Government’s Regional Growth Fund, a £90k grant supported the purchase of a 20,000 sq. ft. production and showroom facility, doubling the square footage of the company’s work space and also leading to the creation of a further six jobs.
Managing director of Xamax, Graham Thompson, said: “Xamax is in a very strong position after ending 2014 on a positive note, which led to us experiencing our strongest year to date.
“Over the last 12 months we have worked hard to grow and develop the business through our on-going commitment to invest. All of this has helped us to increase our sales, with particular uplift to the end of the year.”
“While 2014 was extremely successful, we have no intention of slowing down.
“We will continue to invest in the latest equipment and in to our infrastructure in order to expand the business and firmly position ourselves as a market leader of embroidered and screen printed clothing across a range of markets.”
Providing more than 16,000 businesses with embroidered and screen printed garments, the company employs 46 staff and has more than 20 years’ experience working within the work wear and sportswear markets.
