Marketing Incentives receives accolade from Wigan Youth Zone
Wigan Youth Zone has presented Chris Naylor from Marketing Incentives with an accolade in recognition of his support as a Bronze Patron.
The Youth Zone opened in June 2013 with the aim of providing every young person in the area with somewhere to go, something to do and someone to talk to. The organisation actually goes much further than this and aims to raise the aspirations of young people through their £6 million state of the art facility which is open to young people seven nights a week. The facilities include four 5-a-side football pitches, a music room filled with instruments, a dance studio, boxing gym, girl’s room, employability suite and a state of the gym.
To make the facility accessible to all young people and keep costs to a minimum, the organisation runs a variety of community and fundraising activities. The Youth Zone is also supported by a number of local businesses who pledge their support as Patrons.
John Harker MBE, General Manager at the club commented: “The success of the Youth Zone relies heavily on the support of the local community including the business community. Through our Business Breakfasts and fundraising events held throughout the year, we want to make Wigan Youth Zone sustainable in the long term. We’re delighted Chris has decided to become a patron, not only has he invested money in us, he’s also given a lot of support to some of the enterprise projects our young people are involved with, advising them on marketing activities they should consider to make their projects a success.”
Business colleague Steve Hitchin of One Stop Hire, who is also a Patron of the charity, introduced Chris Naylor to Wigan Youth Zone.
Chris commented: “It is wonderful to see Wigan Youth Zone thriving with 6,000 members and counting. They play an essential role in the local area providing young people with opportunities to build their confidence, meet other like-minded people and thrive. I feel very proud to be a part of it and regularly encourage other local businesses to get involved.”
WYZ is a registered charity that needs to raise around £1.5 million each year to make sure their doors stay open seven days a week. They don’t make any profit and aim to keep costs as low as possible so young people can use all their facilities for just 50p a visit. They are determined that the community and local businesses get behind what they are trying to achieve for young people in the area.
