Larbert House Visit for Budding Builders
A local housebuilder welcomed 25 local school pupils from Larbert Village Primary School on an exciting educational visit to their site last week.
All Saints Living, who is transforming Larbert House and its surrounding estate into an £18m luxury development, was visited by the local school’s Primary 5/6 class for a tour of the estate and the beloved B-listed building that lies within its grounds.
Mrs Leslie’s class were given the opportunity to learn about the history of the 18th century Georgian manor and how the house will be developed using the most delicate methods to properly restore the house’s former architectural grandeur.
The Larbert school pupils saw the building site first hand and, donning specially created Larbert Village Primary high visibility vests and hard hats discovered how a restoration project of this size works, the importance of health and safety and how developers use the latest equipment and technology in their work.
Grant Keenan, Managing Director of Strathyre Properties, a partner in the project, said: “It was fantastic to welcome Larbert Village Primary’s P5/6 class to the development and give them an insight into the world of housebuilding, as well as the historical and cultural importance of Larbert House itself.
“Many of the kids, like myself, have spent many hours exploring Larbert woods with their families so being able to give them an understanding of how we’re bringing this beautiful old house and its surrounding land back to life was really special.”
Inspired by the majesty of Larbert House’s ornate design and the various stories which reveal its unique history, the children have now been challenged to create a unique piece of art which will be proudly displayed in the development’s marketing suite.
Mrs Leslie, Class Teacher at Larbert Village Primary School, said: “The children and I thoroughly enjoyed our visit to Larbert House. Having the opportunity to get so close to the old building and learn about how the house sadly fell into disrepair and the work involved in restoring it, has been extremely interesting.
“The pupils looked great in their branded safety hats and jackets - we may even have some future architects or builders in our midst. The trip has left us with lots of inspiration and the class is now looking forward to creating a special piece of artwork for the development.”
The Larbert House and Country Estate marketing suite is open Thursday 11am - 6pm and Friday to Monday 10am - 5pm. For further information visit www.larberthouseestate.co.uk.
