MAN provides logistical solution for Northampton business
A leading machinery business was overjoyed when MAN Truck and Bus UK went above and beyond to help them prepare for a crucial roadshow.
Hako Machines Ltd, based in Crick, Northampton, approached the trusted truck manufacturer to help them find a solution to a logistical problem.
The company, which recently launched the new Citymaster 1600 road sweeper weighing in at a hefty 3 tonnes, wanted a vehicle that would be able to transport two of these products simultaneously for an upcoming demonstration roadshow.
Paul Allen, Demonstration Manager at Hako Machines Ltd, said they were thrilled with the bespoke MAN TGM 18.290 truck presented to him by MAN Truck and Bus UK as a solution.
“We are delighted to have taken delivery of this brand new custom-made vehicle. We recently launched some extraordinary new machinery and required a truck like this to transport this product up and down the country for our roadshow.
“Although our previous truck had a beavertail ramp, we had problems getting some of our heavier machinery in and out of it so I approached MAN Truck and Bus Northampton to see what they could do for us and couldn’t be happier with the outcome.”
Scott Munton, Sales Executive at MAN Truck & Bus UK, enlisted in the help of tail lift manufacturer, Dhollandia, and Kurt Hobbs Coachworks Ltd to create the perfect truck for Hako Machines.
“We had a cantilever full closure tail lift incorporated on to the vehicle. Although it was capable of lifting up to 6 tonnes, it also needed to be large enough to cope with the sheer size of the utility machine, so we secured additional aluminium flip over extensions to the truck. This worked perfectly.
“We finished the MAN TGM off with beautiful Alcoa wheels and striking silver paintwork with colour coding to the arches and bumpers. As the vehicle was for the sales demonstration unit, we felt it was important for it to look the part too.”
Hako Machines Ltd sealed the deal with three years contract hire with full Gold repair and maintenance package through MAN Financial Services, as well as telematics and a forward facing camera.
“The truck is clocking up the miles all over the country, and because of the type of work we required the vehicle for, we decided it would be best to get some kind of cover. When MFS presented us with the option of their Gold repair and maintenance package, we knew we had to take it.”
Paul added: “The services we received from Scott was fantastic. He listened to our problem and came up with a quick and efficient solution in no time. This MAN TGM is just what we were after. We would definitely go back to MAN Truck and Bus Northampton.”
