Helping Savvy Women understand changes in pension rules

LEADING financial experts Louise Oliver and Stephen Willis will be guest speakers at the next SavvyWoman Retirement event in London on Wednesday, March 4.

SavvyWoman.co.uk is the financial website founded by broadcaster and personal finance journalist Sarah Pennells.

Placed in the top five of the nation’s money-saving websites by The Times, SavvyWoman was created to talk about the money issues that affect women in a clear and user-friendly way.

The SavvyWoman Retirement event is being held at The Bloomsbury Hotel in Great Russell Street and will see Louise and Stephen, founders and directors of financial planners Piercefield Oliver, talking about the importance of embarking on proper financial planning with the onset of the new flexible pension rules.

“After April 5 this year, some pensions will be more like a bank account and it will be possible to obtain money in a lump sum much earlier than allowed under previous legislation,” says Louise, a regular financial guest on both BBC Breakfast and BBC Radio 4’s Money Box.

“While the idea of an earlier lump sum might seem attractive, this needs careful consideration as we are all living longer and the money we have invested in our pensions will need to last longer and work harder for us.”
