Blue Arrow wins contract to supply 250 staff at Liverpool and Manchester container terminals
Recruitment agency, Blue Arrow, has secured the contract to supply staff to Peel Ports’ container terminals across both of its Liverpool and Manchester terminal operations.
The contract sees the supply of over 250 people in roles ranging from vessel stevedores to crane operators as well as a range of support services.
Employees will work across both the container services and mooring operations at the Port of Liverpool and along the green highway of the Manchester Ship Canal.
The contract also covers the selection, training and development of over 250 additional employees to support the new in river deep water terminal Liverpool2.
CEO of Blue Arrow, Mark Manaton, said: “Building on the initial success of the contract win, we are looking to partner with organisations such as the DWP and Mersey Maritime to build sector-based work academies to further develop the current workforce.
“This in turn will create opportunities for further employment in the local area in the coming months and years.
“As a 24 hour operation with a high level of customer service requirements, we really do understand the importance of appropriately skilled, dedicated and motivated staff ensuring that every vessel is unloaded and loaded to plan and on time”
Port director, Peel Ports Group, David Huck, said: “The integration of the Blue Arrow team and operating platform at the Port of Liverpool and the Manchester Ship Canal container terminals has been successful.
“Following this, we now look forward to working closely with Blue Arrow in executing the recruitment plan for Liverpool2 and the customer added value logistics solutions it will deliver to the region and wider economy.”
