Confirmed: New luxury Quayside champagne bar will create up to 18 new jobs

Singer Mark Nigrelli is opening Glass House whiskey and champagne bar in Newcastle city centre creating new jobs with NatWest funding support.

With its sumptuous art-nouveau style furnishing reminiscent of the 1920s, Glass House will provide customers with a luxurious alternative for drinks in the city centre serving a range of whiskeys, champagnes and other opulent drinks.

Up to 18 new jobs are to be created at Glass House which is due to open in Dean Street inside a former bank building this month.

For the last 20 years Mark has been working as a singer performing in clubs and venues around the world and it was while on his travels that his idea for Glass House first came to fruition.

Mark said: “While I was in New York I visited a whiskey bar which I really liked because it had a great feel about it. While in Stockholm I visited a champagne bar which was similar in quality.

“With Glass House I want to bring those two establishments together and create a venue that customers might expect to find in London but not necessarily in Newcastle city centre.

“It will be the type of establishment you can go to and have a nice quality drink with friends in a luxurious setting.”

When the time came to obtain funding for his new business, Mark turned to NatWest relationship manager Ben Foster for support. Ben obtained a £90,000 loan to support the start up of the business and assist with refurbishment works.

Mark said: “Ben has been very good to work with. It’s not easy to open your own business but Ben provided excellent support.”

Ben said: “I was delighted to support Mark as he gets ready to open Glass House in Newcastle. I wish Mark and the business every success for the future.”
