Votes to transform the future of international manufacturer

Local people could transform the future of a Skipton-based manufacturer which is in the running to win a national award with a top prize of £30k worth of government support.

Principle Healthcare International is calling for online votes from the region to help it clinch the ‘Best Exporter in the UK’ title against 10 British companies in the running for the award.

The Airedale Business Centre-based manufacturer was named Yorkshire & Humber ‘Best Export’ winner last month in stage one of the GREAT Faces of British Business competition in association with BT Business. The international team is now hoping local support and votes will help it bring the national title home to the Dales when the results are announced on March 3.

A win would bring Principle Healthcare International its third award in less than 12 months after clinching the 2014 UKTI Export Achievement Award for Yorkshire and Humber. Already holders of the 2012 Queen’s Award for Enterprise in International Trade and experiencing significant year on year growth trading in 41 countries in its seven-year history, Principle Healthcare International is fast evolving as a manufacturing success story nestled in the Yorkshire Dales.

Andrew Davies, Managing Director of Principle Healthcare International, which manufactures and supplies vitamins, minerals and supplements, said: “The success of Principle Healthcare International is down to a dedicated team of professionals who excel at creating a manufacturing and an exporting operation that delivers the highest quality products for customer brands, private label contracts, government tenders and our own portfolio of brands.

We were delighted to win the regional award in the GREAT Faces of British Business last month and to be shortlisted for the national title is an absolute credit to the hard work and dedication of our team.“

Principle Healthcare International has added five new markets to its widening portfolio which now includes The Netherlands, Germany and Sri Lanka. With plans to develop a new factory within Europe, the business retains its local focus by embarking on a further year of its highly successful apprenticeship scheme, appointing its 14th trainee in 3 years.

Andrew added: “This is an exciting time for Principle Healthcare International and our future depends on continued support from our regional staff base. Our people make our international business the success story it is and it is local votes that will set us apart in this national competition and see us earn the title of Best UK Exporter.

“We’re calling on local people across Skipton to spend two minutes casting their vote which will help us shine the light of manufacturing success on the Yorkshire Dales!”

The Business is GREAT Britain campaign is run by BIS and UKTI in association with BT. It provides relevant advice and information for small and medium sized enterprises looking to grow, hire export, lead and access finance. The winners will be decided by a combination of judging and a public vote.

Business Minister Matthew Hancock said: “Principle Healthcare International is a brilliant example of a successful small firm run by enterprising and hardworking people. We are backing them all the way and, with the advice and support on offer, there has never been a better time to start and grow a business in the UK.”

Vote for Principle Healthcare on www.greatbusiness.gov.uk/competition before Monday 23 February 2015. Results to be announced on Tuesday 3 March 2015.
