Halifax development creates more demand for new homes

David Wilson Homes, one of Yorkshire’s leading housebuilders has hosted a visit from Kris Hopkins MP and Philip Allott. The visit was organised by the award-winning builder to promote the economic benefits of housebuilding in West Yorkshire.

The visit coincides with the announcement from NHBC that annual figures for new home registrations in the UK increased by 9% in 2014, compared to 2013, showing that the market is moving towards healthier, pre-crisis levels.

Hopkins visited the Fountainhead Village development in Halifax with Philip Allott, the Conservative Parliamentary Candidate for Halifax, ahead of the upcoming election in May. During the visit, Hopkins and Allott met with residents at the development, as well as Dave Hudson, Technical Director at David Wilson Homes, to discuss the positive impact the development has had on local people in Halifax and the local economy.

David Wilson Homes is part of Barratt Developments plc., which announced earlier this year that it would be launching at least four new sites over the next 12 months across West Yorkshire - Bluebell Woods in Wyke, Hewenden Ridge in Cullingworth, Applegarth Manor in Oulton and Hartley Brook in Netherton, underpinning more than 700 jobs for local people.

Kris Hopkins commented: “There was a decline in housebuilding during the recession which meant families looking for good quality, affordable homes were unable to find them. But Britain is building again with housebuilding now at its highest level since 2007. I’m delighted that David Wilson Homes is investing in West Yorkshire to deliver affordable homes in Halifax and the only way to continue building the homes Britain needs is to stick to our long-term economic plan.”

Dave Hudson, Technical Director at David Wilson Homes Yorkshire West, commented: “It was fantastic to welcome both Kris Hopkins and Philip Allott to Fountainhead Village, and give them a tour of one of our popular developments and talk about our plans for housebuilding in Yorkshire over the next 12 months.

“The really great news for potential buyers in Yorkshire this year is the continuation of Help to Buy Equity mortgages, which means first time buyers and those moving up the housing ladder can get moving with just a five per cent deposit, a 20 per cent equity loan, and a 75 per cent mortgage. We also offer a part exchange scheme, which has been very successful at this development, with people able to move up the property ladder into a bigger home.”

Fountainhead Village in Halifax is a beautiful development with countryside views made up of two, three and four bedroom homes starting from £124,995. The development is set in a quiet rural location but boasts great links to nearby towns and cities via the M62, and a new bus route from the development. Close by, visitors will find a traditional pub serving food, as well as a gym and walking routes through stunning scenery.
