Say ‘I do’ at the Epstein Theatre

One of Liverpool’s most iconic theatres is set to play host to weddings for the first time in its 101-year history.

The Epstein Theatre on Hanover Street has entertained audiences from around the globe since it opened in 1913, but now the team behind it have announced that they will allow bride and grooms to say ‘I do’, with the launch of their new wedding packages.

Couples will be able to exchange their vows live on the stage, hold their wedding breakfast in the venue’s grand foyer and even get ready in the backstage dressing rooms at the 380 capacity theatre.

General Manager Rebekah Pichilingi said: “We know that the venue is going to offer brides and grooms a really unique atmosphere that will make their big day extra special.

“We really can cater for everyone’s needs, whether you want to get married on the infamous stage or hold something more intimate in Brian’s Bar. Our beautiful grade II listed building is a perfect backdrop to capture couple’s everlasting memories.“

Since the announcement, the theatre has already secured its first wedding, which will take place between Martin Smith and Hannah Moss. As the inaugural bride and groom to grace the venue this spring, the pair is set to make theatre history.

Events Manager Megan Lowry added: “Martin and Hannah want a truly distinctive wedding that will have the wow factor, and we are thrilled to be able to now offer that. As the first of its kind, we are certain that the couple’s wedding day will be that extra bit special and highly memorable.

“We have produced three easy packages to highlight what we can present here at the theatre. All of these packages cater for weddings ranging from 50 up to 120 guests, and can be tailor made with prices starting at £900. Packages include a red carpet, front of house and management staff, a toastmaster, tables and chairs and a cake stand and knife.

“The Epstein Theatre really is that little bit something different that people have been looking for.“

The Epstein Theatre started its reputation for playing host to amateur dramatic groups and has now progressed for its rich variety and diverse family programming.

It was refurbished in 2011 and renamed in memory of Liverpool’s most successful music entrepreneur and Beatles manager Brian Epstein, whose portrait hangs permanently in Brian’s Bar.

The venue has since hosted shows ranging from pantomimes, The Martini Lounge Burlesque show, comedy and drama.
