Yorkshire offices Sandsgate fully let after £750k refurb

Sandsgate, the historic 10,700 sq ft Edwardian office at the heart Sunny Bank Mills, an office complex between Leeds and Bradford, is now fully let.

Sandsgate, which has recently undergone a £750k modernisation programme, is now home to 10 companies and also houses an art gallery and coffee shop.

Dave Spink Photography and DH2 Solutions Ltd have both moved into the refurbished mill in Farsley, where YTV’s Emmerdale and Heartbeat were filmed.

During the past two years Sunny Bank Mills, one of the most famous family-owned mills in Yorkshire, has been transformed into a modern office complex. More than 250 new jobs have been created there.

William Gaunt, joint managing director of Edwin Woodhouse, the owners of Sunny Bank Mills, commented: “We are delighted to welcome two new tenants to Sandsgate, which is now completely full. Overall, we are now seeing a steady flow of new tenants into Sunny Bank Mills, breathing new life into an historic complex.

“They are all excellent examples of successful businesses being attracted to a quality business environment and their arrival underlines the versatility and flexibility of space at Sunny Bank Mills, which is attracting an exciting breadth of occupiers.”

Dave Spink Photography has moved from 4 Red Lane, elsewhere on the Sunny Bank Mills complex, because the company was expanding.

William Gaunt said: “Dave Spink arrived at Sunny Bank Mills a couple of years ago and we are delighted that the company has chosen to relocate within Sunny Bank Mills and take more than 1,000 sq ft at Sandsgate to accommodate its expansion.

“This decision is an endorsement of the first-class working environment we have tried so hard to achieve here.”

DH2 Solutions, a Yorkshire company which specialises in providing assistance for disabled people living at home, has taken 230 sq ft of quality office space in Sandsgate. Managing director Dave Howson said: “As the company expanded, I needed to locate larger premises in the Farsley area. I was lucky enough to find Sandsgate at Sunny Bank Mills, which was absolutely perfect.

“The ethos of the historic old mill is wonderful, as is the working ambience. At the same time the location is perfect for me, between Leeds and Bradford, and close to Yorkshire’s superb motorway. It ticks every single box for me. “Sunny Bank Mills was the perfect choice, as the complex is in a central location, has ample parking and is full of character. We recognised the potential of the Sandsgate unit, which has been transformed into a stylish, well-finished office with some of the original features left intact.”

Mike Haigh of Leeds property consultancy Dove Haigh Phillips, who are marketing Sunny Bank Mills with Jones Lang Lasalle, added: “These recent deals endorse the capital expenditure and attention to detail the refurbishment of Sunny Bank Mills has created”.
