Biggest sponsorship year ever for student decorator competition
Dulux Decorator Centre is proud to announce more sponsors than ever for the eighth annual Student Decorator of the Year competition. With 14 official sponsors, including support at six local heats already confirmed, this year’s competition promises to be the biggest yet.
The Student Decorator of the Year 2015 competition – previously called Apprentice of the Year – challenges students across the UK to pit their painting and decorating skills against each other, in a bid to win industry prizes and gain the best possible start on the career ladder.
This year’s competition, which kicks off on 12th March in Kent, has attracted two new official sponsors: world leading ladder manufacturers Werner and abrasives technology experts Mirka. As official sponsors, the companies will be generously providing a host of prizes and products for both the winning students and colleges.
As well as the two new companies, paint and professional brushes supplier Purdy, premium masking tape suppliers 3M, paint spraying systems experts Aristospray, DIY specialists Artex, and Barrettine wood finishes have again committed to backing the Student Decorator of the Year competition. Along with designer wallpaper specialists, Graham & Brown, Personal Protection Measures (PPM) company Shield, Toupret, the filler specialists and decorating tools specialist Hamilton.
With competitors testing their skills in regional heats across the country, sponsors have also chosen to support several of the regional heats. Purdy has committed to supporting the first heat at North West Kent College, as well as the AkzoNobel regional heat in Slough. Shield will also be the official regional sponsor of the Leeds College of Building heat. Saint-Gobain, the world leader of construction materials is supporting the Sandwell regional heat while NMC-Copley, the supplier for coving, cornices and decorative mouldings will be lending its support to the Welsh heat in Bridgend on 30th April. Siroflex, who specialise in sealants, adhesives and foams has also chosen to provide branded products for the winners of the Blackpool heat.
Beverley Whitehead, marketing manager at Dulux Decorator Centre, comments: “Each year the Student Decorator of the Year competition gets bigger and better, and this year is no exception. We’re really proud that some of the painting and decorating sector’s best-known brands are coming together to support the future of the industry. Plus, with the goody bags and prizes that the sponsors have provided, the students’ careers get a helping start with the much-needed tools of the trade.”
