Durham mumtrepreneur buys in to popular music and singing company
Newton Hall mum of three Louise Emerson has recently bought successful children’s music and singing company Musical Minis Durham, following the original owner retiring through ill-health.
Musical Minis has been operating profitably for 10 years and at one time employed several locally-based staff.
Louise, who previously worked as a teacher at Durham Community Business College, is currently running six classes a week in Belmont, Durham, Newton Hall and will be recruiting new staff in the coming months as she builds the business back up to its full capacity and expands into new locations.
Musical Minis classes, developed by ex-Great Ormond Street Play Specialist and child psychologist Karen Sherr, are designed for children aged 0-5 to sing, dance and play basic musical instruments, which helps develop their language, communication, listening, fine and gross motor skills.
Louise said: “I’d been going to Musical Minis classes with my own children for over five years and didn’t want to go back to teaching after the birth of my youngest child, so buying a business I could fit in around my family seemed a really good idea.”
