Former United players Gary Neville and Ryan Giggs gain planning permission for second Manchester hotel

Former Manchester United players Gary Neville and Ryan Giggs have gained planning permission for their 2nd Manchester hotel which will not be football themed.

The pair will be redeveloping Manchester’s former stock exchange building into a boutique hotel.

Giggs and Neville bought the 1906-built Northern Stock Exchange Building for £1.5 million in 2013.

The Grade II-listed listed building is on 4 Norfolk Street and will have 35 beds, a gym, spa, roof-top terrace, restaurant and bar.

Zerum, Gary Neville’s property consultancy, acted as agents for the application for planning permission.

The announcement comes as the pair prepare to open their first hotel venture, the football themed hotel in Trafford.

Partner and head of the planning function at Zerum, Mike Ralph, said: “This planning approval creates an important ‘platform’ for our client to finalise its operational requirements before hopefully pressing on with the implementation of what is an exciting scheme for this important city centre property.”
