Britcon completes £400k University of Bradford build
Britcon, the building and civil engineering contractor, has completed a £400k project to provide a new roof for the 16000ft² sq. ft Chesham Building at the University of Bradford.
The 1960’s brutalist architecture building, which is occupied by the Faculty of Engineering and Informatics, formed part of the University’s ‘ambitious’ carbon management plan.
Britcon tendered for the project with a commercially viable scheme able to suit the project budget.
Works involved improving the thermal properties of the roof and the installation of a single ply membrane. Numerous glazed northlights were also upgraded using Kingspan insulated panels and roof lights.
Britcon is on the construction framework for the University of Bradford and has previously completed full internal refurbishment works over three floors of the Richmond Building.
