Former Leeds coal-mining community in £3 million commercial revamp
Yorkshire based property developer Priority Space Ltd is set to develop commercial accommodation as part of the Allerton Bywater Millennium Village regeneration scheme near a former Leeds coal-mining community.
Sarah Ratcliffe, a solicitor at Yorkshire law firm Gordons, advised Priority Space in relation to its contracts with the Homes and Communities Agency (HCA) and community regeneration specialist, Keepmoat Homes.
Priority Space has been appointed by them to develop the commercial element as part of the development on Park Lane which will include 190 new homes being developed by Keepmoat Homes. Planning permission was granted in November 2014.
Adam Richardson and Lee Buchanan, directors at Priority Space, said the development will attract investment from retailers and businesses and generate a significant number of jobs in the area.
Mr Richardson said: “Priority Space is proud to be a part of this project which will re-energise Allerton Bywater and the surrounding areas.
“Whilst the commercial element is one part of the scheme, it will play a pivotal role in driving the local economy, encouraging people to live, work and spend their leisure time there.
“Priority Space has been very impressed with the service provided by Gordons in helping to secure a key development with high profile partners.
“We will definitely be utilising the professional advice provided by Gordons for future development opportunities.”
The Homes and Communities Agency, the national housing and regeneration agency for England, has worked in partnership with property developers to improve the Allerton Bywater community by bringing new homes, facilities and services to the area following the closure of the village’s coalmine in 1992.
