S2S announce WEEE partnership in Scotland

South Yorkshire data destruction and Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE) recycling solutions company S2S has announced a strategic partnership with Glasgow Computer Recycling, with the joint aim of offering a better service for clients both north and south of the border.

Both companies are committed to enabling businesses to securely and responsibly recycle redundant IT equipment to the same high standards and it was recognised that a cooperative working relationship was in the interest of both companies in their determination to drive up standards and expand in to new areas.

“We are delighted to confirm our closer working relationship with Glasgow Computer Recycling,” said Grant Barton, Operations Director for S2S. “We realised early on that GCR shared our ethics, standards and high levels of security, so it made sense to take advantage of their services in Scotland, while S2S can offer them a reciprocal agreement here in England.”

What this adds up to for the clients of both companies is a consistently high level of service throughout the UK and Scotland. The news comes as reports continue to show that recycling is a booming business. In Britain we throw away millions of tonnes of electronic waste every year (enough to fill Wembley Stadium six times over) and S2S and Glasgow Computer Recycling are at the forefront of those looking to stem the tide.

“Environmental Law states that computers and other unwanted electronics should be responsibly recycled within the UK and together S2S and GCR can do this much more effectively that we could alone,” added Barton. “Nearly 25% of WEEE taken to recycling centres could be re-used and we are committed to doing so, while our stringent data destruction criteria give clients the confidence to know they can recycle safely and cost effectively.”

For their part, GCR is signed up to Zero Waste Scotland’s Resource Sector Commitment, which requires signatories to demonstrate consistent standards for business waste collections coupled with excellent customer service.

Grant Morgan, director at Glasgow Computer Recycling said, “Zero Waste Scotland has allowed us to expand our service and our new reciprocal relationship with S2S is designed to help us assure our clients in England or Scotland of our very high standards and service. It was clear early in that GCE and S2S talk the same talk when it comes to customer service and security so it made good business sense for us to walk together and work together going forwards”

S2S is now actively looking to source a new facility in London later this year which will enhance the footprint of the company further. S2S will be available to discuss latest developments and the service it can provide in conjunction with GCR in June at Info Security 2015, Europe’s largest and most attended information security event taking place at Olympia London, 2nd – 4thJune. S2S can be found on stand D210.
