Woodside Grange expands to become largest care home in Stockton
Woodside Grange Care Home in Thornaby has opened a new extension to provide residents with specialist dementia nursing and care for adults with mental health needs.
The additional 44 bedrooms make Woodside Grange the largest care home in Stockton with a total of 121 beds.
After a nine month building programme the new extension was officially opened by Councillor Barbara Inman, Mayor of Stockton on Tees on 25th February.
The facility has been carefully designed to follow the latest dementia directives with specific attention given to the interior design of both the communal living spaces and the private bedrooms.
A mixture of warm colours and complimentary soft furnishings has created a homely environment where residents are cared for by specialist nurses and carers.
Councillor Inman said: “This is a truly wonderful facility and one which the Borough of Stockton should be proud.
“The provision of specialist care in such a well designed and homely environment will ensure that residents feel happy and safe whilst providing their families with the reassurance that they are receiving quality care.”
Woodside Grange is one of 6 care homes in the St Martins Care Group which provides specialist care facilities throughout the North East of England.
Kevin Pattison, St Martins Care Managing Director, said: “This is a landmark day for St Martins Care Group and demonstrates our commitment to providing the highest levels of quality care.
“This new extension at Woodside Grange will ensure that our residents enjoy a happy, comfortable and safe environment where independence and personal needs are always considered by compassionate and highly trained staff.
“We will also need to employ over 40 new members of staff which we hope to recruit from the local area.”
The Home will provide accommodation for both local authority aided and private residents - the first having moved in on Thursday 26th February.
