Tesco superstore contract for Hull metalwork firm Eltherington

Hull-based architectural metalwork specialist Eltherington has been contracted by supermarket chain Tesco has provided an ‘innovative’ solution to a new store in Rotherham.

Eltherington supplied and installed the facade solution on the store in Rotherham, including extra-rigid stainless steel column casings, on behalf of Barnsley-based main contractor Billington Structures.

The column casings were manufactured by Eltherington in stainless steel because of its appealing aesthetics and corrosion resistance, the specification was chosen by the architect.

Eltherington’s architectural metalwork solutions were specified for the superstore by project architects, Smith Smalley Architects.

They said: “Eltherington responded well to our brief for a store entrance that offered contemporary aesthetics whilst providing the client with a tough, hardwearing finish.

“The fact that Eltherington continue to manufacture in Yorkshire and that stainless steel is 100% recyclable adds to the sustainability of this project.”

Eltherington operates from a 6 acre state-of-the-art manufacturing facility in Hull, East Yorkshire, and is able to provide a wide range of standard and bespoke architectural metalwork solutions for building facades.

Michael Riding, director at Eltherington said: “Billington Structures approached us looking for a complete supply and installation service.

“We have recently invested and expanded our installation capabilities and, working with our approved installers, provided Billington with a complete turnkey solution on this project.

“Stainless steel was an excellent choice of material for this high footfall location and we are confident that it will provide a robust, long lasting solution for the client.”
