Irish airline Aer Lingus set to fly to Dublin from Doncaster Sheffield Airport for the first time

Doncaster Sheffield Airport has announced that Aer Lingus Regional, operated by Stobart Air, will be flying five times a week between Doncaster and Dublin.

The new route from Doncaster Sheffield Airport means that passengers can save hours off journey time to North America travelling via transatlantic Dublin hub.

The flights, which will start on May 29, provide connections to Aer Lingus’ transatlantic services to New York, Boston, Chicago and Toronto.

Dublin Airport offers U.S.-bound passengers immigration and customs preclearance services so there are no border checks upon arrival in the United States.

Steve Gill, managing director of Doncaster Sheffield Airport, said: “This is fantastic news and we are delighted to welcome Aer Lingus Regional to Doncaster.

“The new route not only gives passengers a much needed route to Dublin but provides the transatlantic links to New York, Boston, Chicago and Boston.

“This is a huge positive for Yorkshire passengers and is great pre birthday news ahead of our 10th anniversary celebrations next month.”

Speaking at the announcement at Doncaster Sheffield Airport, Mr Peter O’Mara, business development director said that the new route to Dublin represents a convenient, accessible and value for money choice to visit Ireland’s capital city.

Mr O’Mara said: “We are delighted to announce the launch of our new Doncaster Sheffield to Dublin route today. This new route will offer further choice for UK passengers visiting Dublin and for Irish passengers to travel to South Yorkshire. ’

“As one of Ireland’s most vibrant and cultural cities, Dublin has much to offer for a mid-week or weekend getaway and for a family trip away. We have timed the flight launch to coincide with the May bank holiday weekend which will see many activities planned in the city.”

‘We look forward to working with Robin Hood Airport Doncaster Sheffield in launching and developing this route for our customers from the 29 May,’ Mr O’Mara concluded.

Stobart Air operate Aer Lingus Regional under a franchise agreement with Aer Lingus until 2022.
