Hartlepool recruitment agency looks to triple its team

Adept Professional Services Ltd, a Hartlepool-based recruitment agency, is set to embark on a major recruitment drive to triple its workforce.

The firm are looking to hire another 12 recruitment specialists in sectors that include energy, IT, engineering, oil and gas, finance and legal to meet a surge in demand for its expertise.

Adept, set up by Kelly Adamson in 2006, has just quadrupled the size of its offices at the Innovation Centre run by the Tata Steel business-support subsidiary UK Steel Enterprise on the Queens Meadow Business Park.

Adept currently employs six recruitment experts and now has the extra offices and interview rooms it needs to triple that number.

With a strong regional client base the agency also works further afield including managing the recruitment for a UK client that established an operation in Australia and has just become the UK partner of Silicon Valley-based developers CustomInsight in the USA.

Kelly has also set up a second business, Adept Payroll Services, in response to demand.

Adept has particular expertise in the oil and gas, engineering, energy and utilities sectors but is also seeing growth in finance, management, marketing, HR, academic research and sales.

Kelly said: “Adept will have a team of 18 carefully selected recruitment professionals by the summer.

“Having the space and opportunity to expand at the Centre, along with an investment from Northstar Ventures last year, puts the company in a strong position for strategic growth.

“Our business model is to be different from other recruitment agencies. I have spent nine years developing ‘Adeptology’ which is a unique partnership approach that enables our clients to attract, develop and, importantly, retain an engaged and skilled workforce”.

“Our aim is give business clients of every size a better return on their recruitment investment.

“Key skills are often in short supply so companies need to win the best talent that is out there to compete successfully.

“We take the same approach to our own recruitment, selecting our specialists very carefully, and we are proud of our accreditations, especially the perfect score we achieved to acquire ISO 90001:2008.”

“Having experienced recruitment agencies from both sides of the desk I felt the need for change when I established Adept.

“We started in one office and I planned our initial growth carefully to fit in with family commitments but the time is now right for this expansion.

“The Innovation Centre has been ideal for us with impressive modern facilities and support from UK Steel Enterprise as well as being in an ideal position just off the A689.”

Sarah Thorpe, Regional Executive for UK Steel Enterprise, marking its 40th anniversary this year, said: “Our Centres are designed with all the facilities that a growing business needs and we do everything we can to accommodate tenants when they need extra office or workshop space. It is great to see Adept doing well and creating such an impressive number of additional jobs.”
