For Sale: Two of Blackpool’s piers
Two of Blackpool’s piers are up for sale following an announcement from Wigan-based owners Cuerden Leisure.
Blackpool Central and Blackpool South piers are up for sale, after Blackpool North Pier was bought by a local businessman in 2011.
Blackpool Central Pier has been given a guided price of £4.8m and Blackpool South Pier has been given the guide price of £3.3m.
The Central Pier stands at 341 metres long, while the South Pier is 150 metres.
A spokesman for the National Piers Society, said: “These piers are all in good order and trading successfully, and, given that Easter is almost upon us, I have no doubt that they will quickly find a buyer or buyers.”
Richard Baldwin, director in Bilfinger GVA’s Retail, Hotels and Leisure team, said: “Each of these piers are truly iconic structures, having been popular visitor attractions in two of the UK’s best known resorts for over a century.
“Each pier is being offered for sale freehold, subject to the various concession agreements in place. As profitable attractions we’re confident this sale will attract major interest.”
St John Stott, director at Cuerden Leisure, adds: “These assets are jewels in the crown of the UK’s coastline and we are delighted to offer them to the market either as separate lots or collectively.”
