Sunderland firm latest to benefit from Broadband Connection Voucher scheme

Rymote, a company that specialises in Cisco systems, is urging North East enterprises to take advantage of a scheme designed to improve connectivity.

The Sunderland firm said the business community in Tyneside and Wearside should be encouraged to make the most of the recently-extended Broadband Connection Voucher scheme, which enables businesses to claim up to £3,000 for better, faster broadband.

The scheme is active in cities across the UK and is administered by each city through over 600 registered suppliers.

Funding for businesses in Sunderland, South Shields, Washington will become available from April 3.

The Sunderland Software Centre based company said that – for many businesses – good connectivity can make the difference between a successful business and one that does not realise its potential.

Al Yong, CEO of Rymote said: “The Broadband Connection Voucher scheme is a great way for businesses to access funding to support with the integration of cutting edge technology that will allow them to take their business to the next level.

He said: “Connectivity is absolutely crucial for busineses of all shapes and sizes. We live in a world in which businesses can quickly and easily tap into national and international markets, if they have the soft infrastructure to support this. Schemes like this open up new markets to businesses – it’s something companies should be encouraged to make the most of.”

Councillor Paul Watson, leader of Sunderland City Council, said businesses in the North East should be encouraged to make the most of the scheme.

He said: “This scheme is a great opportunity for businesses to ensure they’re supported with the best possible infrastructure and connectivity.”
