York-based software company has designs on expansion

A NATIONAL software company based in York has moved to new offices in the city centre as it prepares to expand in the North West.

Isotoma, founded by two former University of York students, relocated from London to York almost ten years ago, and subsequently ran its software development and product design operation from Tower House in Fishergate.

Now the business, and its team of 26 staff, has moved to city-centre premises in Swinegate, in a move which according to the company’s founders reflects the contrast between a highly modern company and its medieval surroundings.

Andy Theyers, who created the business in 2004 with Doug Winter, said: “We are proud to be a nationwide company that is based in York.

“We are only an hour and 50 minutes away from London on the train and we sit in the heart of an absolutely beautiful city.

“This office tells our story exactly the way that we wanted to tell it from the moment our customers get off the train, walk across the river, travel through York’s beautiful streets and come right up to our door.”

Isotoma also has satellite office in London and is soon to open a second in Manchester.

The business has a range of customers nationwide across various sectors including publishing, environment, start-ups and education.

It has worked with some of the world’s largest companies including Channel4, Vodafone, Telefonica and HarperCollins.
