Yorkshire printer brings colour to London landmark
Castleford printing company CSD Print is helping transform one of London’s most iconic buildings. The large format digital printer has just (15th March) installed 156 full colour advertising panels to the site hoarding surrounding Old Marylebone Town Hall.
A popular wedding venue for rock stars and Hollywood a-listers, the 100 year old building has been leased to London Business School and is currently undergoing a £60 million refurbishment. Due for completion in 2017, the new facility will be the only business school in the world where students can go straight from their lectures to get married.
CSD Print has worked closely with London Business Schools’ designers to ensure the 200m display to three sides of the Hall fits perfectly. Each panel had to be measured and individually printed to accommodate the sloping site. The full colour design shows passersby how the newly refurbished building will look and also explains its illustrious history.
Printed at the company’s HQ in Castleford using state-of-the-art large format digital print and flatbed technology, the panels were transported to the capital and installed by a team of 8 in 48 hours.
Commenting on the contract CSD’s managing director Stephen Harrison said: “Whilst we’ve made hundreds of large signs and display panels for property developers, estate agents and advertising agencies over the past 28 years this is by far the largest and most prominent project we have ever completed. It has taken precision planning to make sure the design worked effectively across such a long span and that the panels were fixed accurately and safely.
“Seeing it all come together was amazing; it looks fantastic. We’d like to think that Sir Thomas Cooper, who designed this magnificent building and is a fellow Yorkshire man, would approve.”
Founded in 1987 CSD Print specialises in large format digital printing, finishing and site installation. Based at The Potteries, Methley Road, Castleford the company works with clients nationwide including Wakefield District Housing, Nestle Waters, Burberry, Regatta, The Conservative Party and Green Party.
