Liverpool Hoteliers Association host Blue Badge guided tour

With the aim of boosting knowledge of the St. George’s Quarter, Liverpool Hoteliers Association hosted an exclusive Blue Badge guided tour.

Led by Heart of Liverpool Tours and organised as part of the Liverpool Cultural Destinations programme, the familiarisation walk enabled local hotel staff to explore the popular visitor district, to help them gain a further understanding of the attractions available to tourists.

Helen Roberts, member of Liverpool Hoteliers Association and general manager of Holiday Inn Express Albert Dock said: “The walk was a great opportunity for hoteliers from across the city to refresh their knowledge and understanding surrounding the heritage of the city.

“It also enabled them to familiarise themselves with the extensive range of arts and cultural attractions confined within the St. George’s Quarter. This is really important as hotel staff must keep up to date with the city, in order to offer comprehensive information and advice to their guests.“

Throughout the walk, Blue Badge tour guide Margo Storey provided hoteliers with in-depth information and history about iconic Liverpool landmarks including St. John’s Gardens, St. George’s Hall, the Walker Art Gallery, Central Library, the World Museum and the Royal Court.

Helen added: “One of the best ways to explore is on foot. By taking part in the guided tour, people were given a true insight and were able to discover things about the city that they may not have already known.

“Having gained an increased awareness of the area, hoteliers can now pass on information that is both factual and interesting to hotel guests, tourists and members of the general public alike.“

Following the success of the guided tour, a similar walk is set to take place across the Hope Street area on Thursday, March 26. Attendees will visit a range of top cultural destinations including the Victoria and Albert Gallery and Museum, the Metropolitan Cathedral, Everyman Theatre, Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Hall, as well as Liverpool Cathedral.
