Cumbria Waste Group invests £1.5m in environmentally-friendly fleet
Cumbria Waste Group, a waste management and recycling business based in Carlisle have invested £1.5m in a fleet of environmentally friendly vehicles.
The new vehicles are more fuel efficient and will reduce carbon emissions.
Mike Bareham, managing director of Cumbria Waste Group, said to in-cumbria: “The investment in these range of vehicles means we now have the most up-to-date fleet in Cumbria.
“As a company working in the waste sector, we are very aware of our responsibilities. Having vehicles that are more environmentally friendly is very important to us.
“We all have a duty to lower our carbon footprint and, through our new vehicles, recycling operations and landfill diversion strategy, we are continually striving to minimise the impact we have on the environment.
“This investment in new vehicles will also enable us to continue providing a high quality service to our customers across the county.”
The company is owned by Cumbria County Council and employs 200 people across 20 sites.
In recent years the business has been invested in with a £1.25m materials recycling plant opened in 2013.
