Bibby Marine advances diversification with Osiris Projects rebrand
Liverpool’s Bibby Marine has re-branded its Wirral-based underwater survey business Osiris Projects.
The Bromborough-based company will operate as Bibby HydroMap, serving customers in the oil and gas, offshore renewables, subsea cables, utilities and marine sectors.
Osiris Projects was acquired by Liverpool head quartered Bibby Line Group in May 2012 but has continued to operate under its own name until now.
Bibby HydroMap has five registered vessels operating from Liverpool, more than 100 staff, and a turnover of over £10 million.
The two firms began to develop a relationship during the commissioning of specialist survey vessel Bibby Tethra in 2011, and recognised there was potential for synergies.
The company has expanded offshore wind operations into Northern Europe with a recent cable route survey for TenneT Offshore GmbH in the German Bight region.
As a multi-disciplinary company with over 200 years’ experience in the maritime industry, Bibby sees its diversification into offshore renewable as a natural progression, which will provide opportunities for the firms to share expertise.
Osiris Projects was established in 1997 by directors Andrew McLeay and Jim Walters. They remain with the company in a management capacity.
Stephen Blaikie, Corporate Development Director at Bibby Marine said: “Bibby Marine is looking forward to working with the directors and staff at Osiris Projects to further expand and build the business already renowned for providing an excellent service to clients.”
Osiris Projects is aiming to develop its European and global presence through increasing activities in both offshore renewables and oil and gas markets.
Andrew McLeay said: “This is a very exciting time for the team at Osiris Projects. The acquisition by Bibby Marine opens up enormous opportunities to us and will further highlight Osiris Projects as ‘The One to Watch’ over coming years.
“Osiris Projects retains its autonomy but now benefits from the backing and resource of a highly successful ‘local’ company with a global presence and a 200 year history firmly rooted in maritime business”
