Manchester insolvency firm expands with Liverpool office

Manchester-based corporate recovery and insolvency practice Berry & Cooper is continuing with its growth plans by opening a new office in Liverpool.

The firm formed last year following a merger, and expanded following its acquisition of Chorley firm Clark Lindsay in October.

Now Berry & Cooper have taken office space in The Plaza, at the heart of Liverpool’s Commercial District.

The company’s founder and managing partner Stephen Berry, who was born in Liverpool, pursuing a legal career in Leeds and then qualified as an insolvency practitioner.

He launched his own practice, Berry & Co, in 2007 and later merged with Jonathan Cooper’s corporate recovery team to form Berry & Cooper in the summer of 2014.

Stephen Berry said: “When we launched Berry & Cooper, it was with the express aim of growing the business and being bold about our offer, rather than standing still and preserving the status quo like so many of our peers in the corporate recovery sector.

“It’s especially exciting for me that we are expanding the footprint of the business into my home town and the whole team is looking forward to strengthening our links with the city’s professional community and building a strong, lasting base here.”

Jonathan Cooper said: “Liverpool was always high on our list of priorities and everything is now in place for us to enter the market with real confidence in our track record of collaboration with fellow professionals to ensure the best possible outcomes for business owners.”

Berry & Cooper joins fellow professional services businesses at the Bruntwood-owned building, including Investec, Weightmans, O’Connors, DTM Law, Wilcocks & Associates and Langtons, and Influential PR.
