Your Housing Group hosts festival for young people
Warrington-based Your Housing Group, one of the UK’s largest housing associations, has hosted a free one-day festival called YFEST2015 for 130 of their tenants aged between 14 and 25 attended from across the North West, Staffordshire and Yorkshire.
Your Housing Group’s core values are passion, pride and creativity, and YFEST2015 was organised to reflect this, celebrating the talent and drive that many of the young people demonstrate through volunteering and hard work.
The day was packed with music, food and fun with rising stars from the fields of comedy, music and dance taking to the stage. In addition to live music there was an indoor carnival with a magician.
Five of the young people were recognised as ‘Community Stars’ for doing something outstanding in their community. Warrington-based Cruden Property Services sponsored the Community Star Awards, and the winners were presented with their trophies by Barry Curran, Cruden’s Community Ambassador.
Young person’s charity, ITV Fixers, set up a pop-up bedsit where they offered advice on building a successful future.
Sarah Mitten, Regional Community Projects Manager for Your Housing Group said: “It was a fantastic day which was enjoyed by all. We organised YFEST2015 to inspire our younger residents. At Your Housing Group we support our young people in building a bright future and we work hard to give young people the confidence to achieve their dreams. All the activities at YFEST2015 were designed to be fun and we hope everyone attending got a great deal out of the day.“
