North East accountancy firm wins national award
A North Durham accountancy firm is celebrating after being honoured at one of the industry’s most prestigious awards.
Consett-based Valued Accountancy has been named Overall Accounting Partner of the Year at a glittering awards ceremony in London.
‘Xerocon’ is software giant Xero’s annual awards, which celebrates the success of high achieving small business accountants and bookkeepers from across the UK. Xero develops cloud-based accounting software for small and medium-sized businesses.
Valued is the only Xero Platinum Partner in the North East and one of only a handful in the country. The company has achieved platinum status within four years and now boasts a portfolio of over 800 clients. To become a platinum partner, companies must have 500+ clients using the software – the next nearest in the North East is a gold partner, which includes 100 clients.
To be named as Overall Accounting Partner of the Year is a major accolade for the business, which offers three core streams including accountancy, consultancy and business support. Its turnover is expected to top £500,000 this financial year and has seen its workforce more than double over the last twelve months.
The company has also won a number of other top industry awards including Xero’s Fastest Growing Partner and Best Small Practitioner. Commenting on their recent award win, Stephen Paul, owner of Valued Accountancy, said: “We are delighted to win this award and it is credit to the hard work and dedication of everyone working within our team, we really couldn’t do what we do without them. By winning this award, it helps to raise our profile nationally within the industry and puts the success of a North East company firmly on the map.
“The business has experienced tremendous growth over the last few years and as we continue to grow, it is important that we create job opportunities for local people. Last year we doubled our workforce and created apprenticeship and training opportunities which has resulted in permanent positions within the company.”
In addition to becoming a Xero Platinum Partner, Valued Accountancy is also one of four Practice Studio Partners in the UK that provides consultancy and training to small and medium sized organisations by implementing software on behalf of Xero.
Stephen continued: “We have started advising other accountants on Xero add-on technology, which offers a multitude of benefits and has quickly become an exciting aspect of the business. We provide a wide range of services to businesses which are customised to meet their individual needs. Our aim is to ensure that businesses benefit from improved efficiencies and we are accredited to implement Xero Practice Manager to ensure our clients maximise and benefit from a clear strategy.”
