NatWest glory on the pitch for charity win
Last month, financial and legal professionals from across the North West battled in the finals of the Manchester Professional Football League (MPFL) to raise funds for St Ann’s Hospice as the winning team, NatWest Commercial took the Cup home.
Organised by financial and legal recruitment specialists, Sellick Partnership, the league has grown from eight to 24 businesses, raising almost £10,000, in the space of six years. Other prominent North West based companies that competed include ITV, Greenergy and WH Ireland.
Ray Wareing, MPFL organiser and Sellick Partnership Director commented:
“The league is an excellent opportunity for prominent professionals across the North West to demonstrate their skills not only on the pitch, but off it too. The companies that played throughout the tournament demonstrated an excellent standard of football and we are proud to have hosted such a successful and competitive league in aid of St Ann’s Hospice”
The MPFL, is now in its sixth year and brings together businesses from across the North West to compete over eight weeks.
The competition heated up as financial professionals from NatWest Commercial emerged as champions in their match against EY to take the MPFL cup home, whilst Air Energi competed against CBG/MIS to win the plate competition
Matthew Mawdesley, Captain of NatWest Commercial, the winning team said:
“This is the second year we have been involved with the MPFL organised by Ray and everyone at Sellick Partnership, finally managing to build on our disappointing performance from last year! It is a well organised and enjoyable competition, helping a fantastic cause and one we at NatWest Commercial are proud to support. We look forward to being part of MPFL for years to come!”
Following the success of the MPFL, Sellick Partnership is now gearing up to host the Manchester Professionals Cricket League (MPCL), with teams from Manchester University, BDO and The Co-operative, which launches in May.
