Bender UK set to build new Ulverston HQ
Ulverston-based electrical safety specialist Bender UK is set to expand into a new purpose-built corporate headquarters and service centre.
Bender UK has purchased a development plot opposite its current base at the entrance to the Low Mill Business Park and should break ground on the site in the summer with the aim of completing construction by early 2016.
It marks an exciting chapter in the growth of Bender UK which has almost doubled in size it now employs almost 40 people and the business continues to grow by up to 20% year-on-year.
CEO of the Bender Group in Germany Dr Dirk Pieler was recently in Ulverston to look over plans for the new building with Managing Director Steve Mason.
Dr Pieler commented: “Bender UK has enjoyed outstanding success and I am working closely with Steve Mason on planning to ensure that the company has the resources to continue to expand.
“That will mean more jobs for local people in South Lakeland but will also include recruiting in other parts of the UK to strengthen our service network so that we can continue to provide the highest levels of support which our customers expect from Bender, alongside cutting edge electrical safety technology.”
“Our Ulverston UK headquarters has built a very loyal and stable workforce which is important for a highly technical company like ours.
“We invest a considerable amount in training and development of the people we employ and it is important to be able to reap the benefits of that investment through their longer term commitment to the company.”
The new HQ will be purpose-designed to incorporate Bender UK’s sales personnel, customer service operators and the technical service teams who configure bespoke applications of Bender technology and also support customers on site and manage maintenance requirements to ensure fail-safe operation.
Steve Mason leads the team responsible for planning the new HQ, which includes Health and Safety Manager John Lyons and Finance Manager Susan Miller.
Mr Mason explained: “A purpose-built new base for Bender in the UK will offer enormous advantages in terms of the effectiveness of our staff and the service we can offer customers.
“We know precisely what our customers require and also have laid our plans for expanding services and capitalising on new markets, so those considerations have helped to shape our plans.
“We have also been steadily increasing our workforce, both in Ulverston and as part of our network of service operators supporting customers on a 24/7 basis across the country.
“That recruitment will continue so it is vital that we have the space to accommodate our people and enable the training and upskilling which keeps us at the forefront of electrical safety technology.”
