Parish in ‘no rush’ to sell Crystal Palace as takeover talks continue

Crystal Palace co-chairman Steve Parish is ‘in no rush’ to sell the Premier League club, but says talks are still ongoing with an ‘interested party’.

Late last year, the club was linked to American billionaire Josh Harris and today, speaking to BBC London 94.9, Parish said the takeover is still a possibility.

Parish admits the club is in great need of investment in order to improve Selhurst Park, he said: “The only reason for us to get money in is to improve the infrastructure. There is no rush and we are in a good place. If it happens, it happens,”

“We’ve done well enough that I think we can fund the player things we need to do out of our own resources.

“We are long overdue some ground improvements. They are very costly. We need to make sure we get that done. If that means bringing in other people, and they are the right people, then we’ll do it.”

Crystal Palace, which has been co-owned by Parish and Martin Long, Stephen Browett and Jeremy Hosking since 2010, reported a pre-tax profit of £23m last week, with turnover rising to £90.4m compared to £14.5m for the previous year.

The Eagles won promotion to the top flight in 2013 via the Championship play-offs and recently announced a pre-tax profit of £23m for the financial year to June 2014.

Harris, who is the principal owner of the New Jersey Devils and the Philadelphia 76ers, is reportedly on the cusp of buying the club.
