Leeds Rhino’s Jamie Peacock inspires Yorkshire pump company
Leeds Rhino star Jamie Peacock has tackled his way from the pitch into the boardroom after speaking with several Yorkshire business leaders.
Peacock was recently the guest speaker at Leeds based HpE Process Ltd, where he discussed team tactics with some of the company’s leading customers and explained how they could be transferred from the rugby pitch into a business plan to motivate staff and deliver results.
The former England international revealed his strategy when dealing with sensitive personal issues during his tenure as captain of the Bradford Bulls, as well as how he learnt to become a key figure in an already established team at Leeds Rhinos, setting and reaching his own goals and coping with adversity.
Andy Allman, the HpE Process Ltd boss, explained why he pursued Peacock to motivate his expanding team.
Mr Allman said: “In the last 18 months we have had a lot of change here at HpE Process Ltd and set some clear goals for growth. I have always communicated my own ambition for the business with the team to take them with me. I invited Jamie to motivate, inspire and highlight how change is not confined to the business arena.”
“Inviting customers added the extra dimension of improved bonding, gave background to our own story and has been a great team building exercise. Everyone was genuinely inspired by Jamie and is looking to use what he talked about in their own business journey.”
He added: “Business and sport are not just highly competitive arenas but share many other similarities and transferable skills. Recognizing the importance of teamwork, motivating individuals and sharing a common purpose of achieving the ultimate goal are deeply rooted in both environments.
“It was great to share my experience and vision with HpE Process Ltd and as motivating for me to realise I had a positive impact on their growth.”
