Phase two of Leeds-based Gregory Projects Limited’s retail development next to Parkgate town centre in Rotherham has been given the greenlight.
After securing planning approval to commence with phase two, the property development firm is set to begin construction on the 9,400 sq. ft. of space, 4,400 sq. ft. of which is already pre let to Formula One Autocentres, immediately.
Construction to build phase one is already underway. The site comprises of 40,000 sq. ft. at the prominent four acre site located at the junction of Great Eastern Way and Broad Street.
Aldi, Iceland and Home Bargains have been announced as the principal tenants in phase one, which is expected to be completed in the summer.
The new scheme is aiming to complement existing occupiers in the established retail area, which include ASDA, Morrisons and The Foundry Retail Park, with a discount goods offering.
Richard Tovey, director at Gregory Projects (part of the Gregory Property Group) said: “We are pleased to secure planning approval for phase two of this development. The scheme is 90% -re-let which is testament to the quality of the location and need for a range of shopping all to the benefit of the Parkgate community. We have just one 5,000 sq. ft. unit remaining.”
The Leeds office of GVA Commercial Property Agents advised Gregory on the pre-lettings and is marketing the remaining accommodation. Forward funding has been secured from Bramall Properties Ltd and Sheffield-based JF Finnegan is the main contractor.
