Google offers virtual tour of Abbey Road studios
Google has partnered with Abbey Road studios to offer a glimpse into the legendary London recording rooms.
The recording studio in St John’s Wood, west London, which has been closed to the public since it opened in 1931, has played host to the likes of The Beatles, Pink Floyd and Stevie Wonder.
Google is now offering fans the chance to see inside the iconic building with its new web app Inside Abbey Road, which was launched yesterday, featuring more than 150 360-degree images along with animated sequences showing technicians at work in the three studios and mastering suite.
Perhaps Abbey Road’s greatest claim to fame is the zebra crossing, which was featured on the cover of the Beatles 11th album and attracts half a million visitors each year.
Giles Martin, a producer based at Abbey Road, told the Evening Standard: “Abbey Road Studios has been a hive of creativity and source of world-class recordings for more than 80 years.
“This collaboration with Google gives the outside world a great insight into the everyday workings of the studio and allows anyone to glimpse the magic that goes on inside the world’s most famous recording studio.”
