Barratt Homes joins fundraising efforts for charity, KidsOut!
Staff from Barratt Homes, alongside other local businesses, attended a black tie evening of entertainment, competition and networking at Leeds’ Elland Road on March 26th, raising a fantastic £96,000 for KidsOut, a charity focused on giving disadvantaged children positive experiences to support them becoming future members of our society and workforce.
The evening provided friendly competition as it based its format on the popular TV show, A Question of Sport, with a fully interactive quiz taking place after a champagne reception and a four-course meal. Each table was designated as a football team, wearing the scarves of a well-known UK or European club whilst they competed, proving to be great fun for all involved.
On the evening, event chairman Ian Ruthven and committee member Lisa Gamble of Barratt Homes both received the KidsOut “outstanding contribution” award, only three recipients are selected each year, for their consistent “above and beyond” contributions to KidsOut, which have transformed the charity’s work in the Leeds region. Their efforts alone have resulted in KidsOut supporting more than treble the number of disadvantaged children in the area.
Ian Ruthven, Managing Director at Barratt Developments’ Yorkshire West Division, and chair of the Kids Out Leeds committee attended the evening and commented: “KidsOut is a wonderful charity and we’re always getting involved with fundraising, so we couldn’t miss the chance to attend this stand out event at Elland Road and to help raise vital funds for the charity! The evening was a lot of fun with a great atmosphere, even though we didn’t win the quiz!”
Gordon Moulds, Chief Executive at KidsOut, commented: “We are holding this event up and down the country throughout the year, and if the attendance at Elland Road is anything to go by, each evening should be fantastic! The evening worked extremely well for us - all the feedback has been very positive as the sporting theme is very attractive to clients and connections and there was a great buzz in the room throughout the evening.”
Gordon continued: “We’d like to say a huge thank you to all that attended – we raised a whopping £96,000 which will go towards helping disadvantaged children across Yorkshire.”
