Public WiFi venture Purple WiFi is aiming to make profit in 2016
Ashton-Under-Lyne’s Purple WiFi, which started in 2012, is looking to make profit in 2016.
The company allows its customers to use analytics to track locations that wifi users log into using their social media accounts.
Purple WiFi made the news earlier this year when it secured £3.3m of investment.
The company is growing quickly with 50 employees and it is currently recruiting for 30 positions, 8 of which are in the North West the rest are in Asia, Europe and America.
Bdaily spoke to Gavin Wheeldon, CEO at Purple WiFi, about the sense of achievement he has, challenges he faces and what its like working for him.
He said: “I enjoy it, getting up in the morning, the feeling of achieving things is a huge buzz.
“We face a real challenge in recruitment, especially trying to find developers in the North West, although the skills shortage is in the whole of the UK not just the North West.
“We have a very relaxed family feel, everyone working together with the same goals, there are no tensions in the business.
“We aim to provide a wealth of information to our customers including social interests, age and other key demographics.
“We want to make wifi work harder and have it in every imaginable public space.”
