Yorkshire Telematics Organisation Recognised Amongst Leaders For Best Insurance Telematics Product - International recognition for innovative partnership between The Floow and Codan, part of the RSA group

A team of leading telematics experts from Yorkshire based The Floow are to be recognised at a prestigious industry awards ceremony later this year after it was announced that their latest product – launched in partnership with Codan Forsikring (Codan) , the Norwegian business of leading international insurer RSA - had been recognised as one of the best in the world.

The Codan telematics application, which monitors driving behaviour using key variables such as anticipation, duration, speed and mobile use, has been named as a finalist in the Best Insurance Telematics Product in the Telematics Update Automotive Awards 2015 taking place in June this year.

The initiative, launched in partnership with Codan in February 2015, was the first try-before-you-buy telematics smartphone application to hit the market in Norway.

Today The Floow CEO Aldo Monteforte, who will be speaking at a number of industry conferences over the summer including the Insurance Europe Summit, paid tribute to his team; thanking them for their continued commitment to ‘pushing the boundaries of telematics use’.

He said: “We are absolutely delighted that the Codan application has been chosen as an exemplary telematics products to enter the market this year; recognition that speaks volume with regards the teams continued commitment to innovation and working outside of the perceived boundaries of the technology.”

The cutting edge technology was designed and delivered by The Floow’s 40 strong team based in South Yorkshire, and has allowed Codan to take a unique approach to pricing car insurance and educate drivers in a new way.

The app was made available through Codan’s digital launch campaign to all drivers in Norway. It ultimately provides the driver and insurer with educational ‘actionable insight’ leading to discounted insurance premiums of up to 20% for safer drivers.

Paul Middle, Head of Telematics Partnering at RSA, added: “Being the first company to launch a telematics app in Norway was a real achievement for us. To now be shortlisted for this award is a real triumph and we’re very pleased that our telematics product has been recognised as being one of the best.”

The Telematics Update Automotive Awards receive in excess of 400 entries from across the world, with only eight making the finalist list for the Best Insurance Telematics Product category.

Since it was established in 2012 The Floow, based in Sheffield, has developed unique end-to-end solution techniques that enable insurers, manufacturers and fleet operators to provide ‘actionable insights’ to increase customer loyalty and return on investment.

Today the organisation is responsible for some of the most advanced and lowest-cost telematics systems in the world, working alongside the likes of RSA and DLG.
