Costcutter Supermarkets Group passes 2,600 store milestone
York-based Costcutter Supermarkets Group now has opened more than 2,600 stores operational for the first time ever.
After a strong first quarter, the number of Costcutter, Mace, Kwiksave, SuperShop and Simply Fresh stores totals 2,625, which includes a net increase of 41 stores in the first quarter of 2015.
All regions have seen an increase in store numbers, including eight retailers from Nisa so far this year.
Furthermore, since there are an array of new retailers considering a move to the group, the expansion of stores is expected to continue throughout 2015.
Daniel Quest, retail director of Costcutter Supermarkets Group, said: “Having over 2,600 retailers in our Group is a pleasing milestone to cross. What is clear is that retailers understand the value we are able to bring due to the combined simplicity and strength of our offer.
“The simpler pricing, no membership fees and no order fees which we introduced in 2014 when we entered our partnership with P&H is obviously attractive. However, retailers are equally drawn by the value we can achieve through the £5bn buying power of Buyco, the strength of our range, and our compelling and flexible promotional programme.
“Retailers are also increasingly commenting on the attractiveness of our Independent own brand range, while at the same time we know they place significant value in our technology innovations such as our new ActivCPoS, ActivOC, ActivHUB and ActivMOBILE systems.
“With a brand portfolio that can cater for any retailer and market leading support from our expert field teams, who help members develop their store and grow sales, we are in a strong position to provide the sort of partnership independent retailers require in today’s market. This is helped further by the security and long-term stability provided by our parent company, Bibby Line Group.”
