Innovative Traineeship Programme launched in Durham
Derwentside College is offering a superb opportunity for young people who want to make a career in the NHS. As part of a longstanding partnership with County Durham and Darlington NHS Foundation Trust, the College is looking for 25 people to take up a Healthcare Assistant Traineeship on June 2nd.
Comprising of 4 weeks classroom learning at either Derwentside College in Consett, or at Bishop Auckland Hospital, followed by a 12 week work placement in a Trust hospital, the Traineeships are open to people aged between 16 – 24, who do not already hold a level 3 qualification.
Speaking about the programme, Derwentside College’s Executive Director of Business Development, Susan Errington, said: “Derwentside College is leading the way in providing traineeship programmes, which are designed to help prepare young people for Apprenticeships, equip them with the skills needed for today’s workplace, and help them to gain a recognised and respected qualification. Employers are increasingly seeing the value in working with us to develop bespoke and flexible traineeship programmes, which provide a solution to workforce planning needs and help to ensure they get the very best young people into their organisations. We are delighted to be working in partnership with County Durham and Darlington NHS Foundation Trust on this exciting programme”.
Traineeships are unwaged, but Derwentside College will provide expenses for trainees to travel both to training and work placement locations, as well as a daily lunch allowance. Benefits will not be affected, and successful trainees will be offered the opportunity to take up a Healthcare Assistant apprenticeship at the end of the programme.
Interested applicants should email their cv to erin.wakefield@derwentside.ac.uk quoting ref. TR06. Closing date for applications is Friday 15th May
