Necker? Never! Essex park denies celeb status

One of Essex’s most popular holiday parks, Steeple Bay near Maldon, has moved to quash rumours that its holiday homes are being snapped up by a tide of A-list celebrities.

The suggestions follow reports that nearby Osea Island has become the go-to venue for London’s fashionable young elite, and that Steeple Bay is turning into celebs-on-sea.

Park Holidays UK, the company which owns the park, says there is absolutely no possibility that its glittering neighbour will soon spark an escalation in holiday caravan prices.

At present, it’s possible to own a brand new caravan holiday home at Steeple Bay for just £8995.00.

By contrast, members of the wealthy in-crowd are reported to be paying up to £7000.00 to spend just a single weekend at one of Osea Island’s celebrity parties.

The 400-acre private island, with its four miles of beaches, is situated just off the coast from Steeple Bay – and is accessible only by helicopter, boat, or via a causeway every seven hours.

Recently, it has started becoming known in the press as the “Essex Necker Island” after Sir Richard Branson’s exclusive Caribbean hideaway.

Tony Clish, director of Park Holidays UK, says it’s easy to understand how the rumours linking superstars to Steeple Bay have taken hold:

“There is a stunningly perfect view of Osea Island from Steeple Bay holiday park, and you hardly even need a pair of binoculars to see what’s happening at the luxury resort.

“I wouldn’t blame any member of the glitterati for deciding that our park is a perfect springboard to a celebrity lifestyle, but without the stratospheric prices.

“Steeple Bay even has its own private slipway, so it would be possible to lock up your holiday caravan and be on Osea in minutes aboard one’s own motor boat or on jet-skis.

“But while we do have a number of well-known personalities owning holiday homes on our parks, we have no intention of making Steeple Bay a “celebrities only” zone.

“Anyone is welcome to become a caravan holiday home owner here, and our prices will remain firmly anchored in affordability!” added Tony.

Steeple Bay is among the 24 seaside parks operated by Park Holidays UK in Essex, Southern England and Devon – all with leisure facilities and professional nightly entertainment.
