Southport restaurateur takes plunge in Liverpool

A new high-concept dining venue is set to open in the heart of Liverpool’s commercial district.

The Vincent Café and Cocktail Bar offer aims to cover the whole day/night cycle – from business breakfast, lunch, on to afternoon tea, then after-work drinks and on through to night-caps.

The new venue is due to open in Exchange Flags at the end of May. Restaurateur Paul Adams, who currently owns the Vincent Hotel in Southport, says bookings are already being taken for what he believes will become one of the most popular venues in the city.

The 190 cover, 6,000 sq ft restaurant will serve a mixture of British and international dishes, including Gringo Sushi – a meat alternative to fish – a concept which Mr Adams brought to the UK.

He said: “The Vincent Café and Cocktail Bar is something new – it is in a fantastic location – and I am hoping it will be a great success.

“The concept of offering everything from breakfast, through to brunch, lunch, afternoon tea, evening dinner and cocktails, provides people with choice which is what is so important in modern society. I feel it is something which is well suited to Liverpool.

“People will know when they visit us they will have delicious fresh food and in great surroundings too. We want to welcome everyone from 16 to 80 – whether it’s after-work cocktails, an early breakfast or an express lunch, Vincent Café has something for everyone.”

On Sundays, there will be a guest pianist, helping to create a different type of atmosphere.

The new venue will open every day from 8am, serving food and drinks throughout the day, offering a wide range from light snacks, express lunch for £9.95, sushi, or a full three course dinner.

It also offers a private dining area, for parties or business events, equipped with a 60-inch television screen and all the latest technology.

To enable him to focus on the new project, Mr Adams has now put his Warehouse Restaurant in Southport on the market. He currently co-owns the West Street venue with Liverpool FC star Steven Gerrard.

Paul Adams said: “It was a tough decision to make to sell and I have many happy memories of my years at The Warehouse. In business you have to make decisions and sometimes tough decisions.

“I feel very strongly that whoever takes over from me must share the same passion I have.”
