Bristol housebuilder helps raise £5,000 for local hospice

Kind-hearted employees with a Bristol housebuilder have helped raise £5,000 for a local hospice.

Staff at Persimmon Homes Severn Valley donated items for the charity to sell in their fundraising stores. The housebuilder also donated ex-showhome furniture, pictures and ornaments to help boost the fundraising total.

St Peter’s Hospice is a Bristol-based charity caring for adults with life-limiting illnesses whilst extending care and support to their families and loved ones.

All the care they provide is free but it costs around £18,000 a day to run the hospice. They raise £14,000 of this through gifts in wills, donations and their charity shops.

Nicola Reed, sales and marketing director for Persimmon Homes Severn Valley, said: “The work carried out by the hospice is truly amazing and it was an easy decision to try to support them.

“We donated various items from our showhomes for them to sell in the shops which was very successful, but our members of staff were particularly generous donating items from their own homes to the charity. We cannot thank everyone enough for their support.”

Nicola added: “As a company it is important to us that we support the local community and helping worthwhile charities such as St Peter’s Hospice is something we take seriously.

“It is wonderful that we were able to donate around £5,000 to the hospice and help fund the day-to-day support that they offer.”

St Peter’s Hospice spokesperson John Flanagan said: “A huge thank you to staff at Persimmon Homes for supporting St Peter’s Hospice. Money raised in our 47 shops across Bristol is vital in allowing us to continue caring for those with life-limiting illnesses.”
