Committed Security Officer Honoured at Regional BSIA Awards

Barrow in Furness Security Officer and Emergency Medical Technician, Paul Wilson, has been honoured with the ‘Best Newcomer’ award at the regional British Security Industry Association (BSIA) Security Personnel Awards 2015.

The awards pay tribute to the outstanding work of officers over the past 12 months who are nominated by their work colleagues and supervisors. Paul was nominated for his enthusiasm and commitment towards his new role.

Paul, who is employed by Securitas, joined the security team at BAE Systems, Barrow in August 2013, bringing his past experience as an Emergency Medical Technician with him. The introduction of Securitas personnel into BAE’s existing in-house customer team was a new concept but Paul’s personal skills soon proved extremely important in not only dealing with employees in sensitive medical situations, but to ensure his integration and relationship building with the customer.

In May 2014 Paul’s professionalism and attention to detail won him a Securitas Community Award for Vigilance after he identified a concern with a patient during a routine medical examination. During the patient’s subsequent recovery, his surgeon informed him he was lucky he had been diagnosed quickly with Paul’s efforts, as a delay may have resulted in a major stroke.

Securitas Country President, Brian Riis Nielsen, said: “Paul’s commitment to his role, integration with the customer’s team and ability to learn new skills clearly shows his excellent development and progression.”

Paul is currently working towards training and developing his skills to progress to a supervisory role in the future. Brian added: “His close interaction and reputation with the customer and their employees will not only benefit Paul as an individual, but will directly benefit the customer and Securitas. We’re very pleased of his clear intention to remain part of our security team at BAE.”

Paul received his award at a ceremony held at Rudding Park, Harrogate on Thursday 16 April 2015.
