Green light for Chiltern Firehouse owner's luxury hotel at Kings Cross
Planning permission has been granted for a luxury 270-bedroom hotel at Kings Cross from the man behind the celebrity hideout Chiltern Firehouse
American hotelier André Balazs plans to replace the 1970s former Camden town hall annexe with the first Standard Hotel outside the US, according to the Evening Standard.
Camden council approved the controversial proposals, which were designed by ORMS, earlier this month, despite objections from several residents.
As well as the Chiltern Firehouse in Marleyborne, Balazs also runs Hollywood’s Chateau Marmont.
The building, which will take around two years to develop, is owned by Crosstree Real Estate Partners.
Daniel Lovatt, development director at Deloitte Real Estate, which advised on the sales, said: “We received an unparalleled level of national and international interest. The level of demand confirms that Camden is one of the capital’s most dynamic and active property markets.”
