Manchester Officer Honoured at British Security Awards

Manchester Security Officer, Bryan Wilkinson has been honoured with the ‘Service to the Customer’ award at the regional British Security Industry Association (BSIA) Security Personnel Awards 2015.

The awards pay tribute to the outstanding work of officers over the past 12 months who are nominated by their work colleagues and supervisors. Bryan, who is employed by Securitas, was nominated for the stability and reliability he has brought to BAE Systems, Submarine Solutions, Manchester.

The Manchester office was first opened in January 2014 as an extension to the existing operation based in Barrow in Furness. The company experienced several issues in the beginning with the delivery of security services which were paramount in achieving operational success.

With the appointment of Bryan Wilkinson, the site was given much needed reliability and, with his willingness to develop the security function and customer-facing capability, BAE’s security solutions were quickly turned around.

Bryan adopted responsibility for the policing and enforcing of the security processes and procedures, reducing the necessity of the local manager’s focus on these issues. Since his appointment, the Securitas management team no longer have to concern themselves with unnecessary worry regarding officers, enabling them to have peace of mind that the security function is being delivered to company and customer expectations.

Peter Shaw, Engineering Manager at BAE Systems Solutions, said: “The contract Bryan is supporting is one of the biggest engineering challenges in the UK, employing thousands of people across the country. We all have to play a part in allowing the project to be a success and Bryan fully understands the importance of his role.

“He is reliable, trustworthy, polite, discreet, well organised and has excellent communication skills. Although he is employed by Securitas, Bryan is a fully integrated and valuable part of the BAE Systems Team here in Manchester.”

Bryan received his award at a ceremony held at Rudding Park, Harrogate on Thursday 16 April 2015.
