Newcastle's Virgin Money security team recognised at Awards

The Securitas Virgin Money security team in Newcastle have been honoured with the award for ‘Best Team’ at the regional British Security Industry Association (BSIA) Security Personnel Awards 2015.

The awards pay tribute to the outstanding work of officers over the past 12 months who are nominated by their work colleagues and supervisors. The 16-strong team is highly committed to providing first-class customer focused service and was nominated for its excellent teamwork and professionalism.

The Securitas Virgin Money Team was highly commended for working together to prepare for VIP visits to site by the company ambassador Richard Branson. It was also recognised for implementing difficult flood defences when needed due to adverse weather conditions in 2014.

Securitas Country President, Brian Riis Nielsen, said: “The excellent organisation between Site Manager and Team Leader to delegate the team’s duties makes sure that security is never compromised and all positions are manned, even in the most complex of situations.

“The team is flexible in providing support and always goes the extra mile to help colleagues on site. Team members can frequently be found jump-starting cars, clearing snow, cleaning up fuel spills and performing extra duties in addition to their day-to-day role.”

While being extremely committed to excellence, the team frequently uses an ideas book on site to contribute putting forward promotions of added value, and carry that through to implement cost saving measures, which greatly benefit Securitas and the customer.

Zoe Holiday, Virgin Money Security and Technical Engineer Administrator explained: “All the officers display outstanding teamwork to ensure there is no lack of service and duties despite ever growing demands placed on them. New or covering team members often fit seamlessly into the onsite team and this is largely due to the team leaders and site manager providing new members with great knowledge and assistance.

Overall, the team displays an outstanding level of service on site and is happy to help all colleagues with most things outside of their contracted duties. The Virgin Money team is extremely deserving of this award.“

The team received the award at a ceremony held at Rudding Park, Harrogate on Thursday 16 April 2015.
