Yorkshire companies praised at leading healthcare event

Four Yorkshire companies have been honoured at the 2015 Medilink UK Awards.

Former Winter Paralympian and World Cup Skier Sean Rose compered this year’s Medilink UK Awards, which returned to Coventry’s Ricoh Arena for the Med-Tech Innovation Expo on 29 April. It was another opportunity to celebrate the past year’s cutting edge technologies, outstanding business achievements and international success across the UK’s Life Sciences sector.

Sheffield-based Swellaway Limited beat off competition from across the UK to win the Nabarro Start-Up Award.

The company, which has developed a ground-breaking portable medical device which applies cold, heat and compression to human or animal joints and muscles, became a finalist for the UK Awards after successfully winning the regional accolade at the Medilink Yorkshire & Humber Winter Ball and Awards in December 2014.

Leeds-based Brandon Medical, a global medical lighting company supplying hospital and healthcare lighting systems, operating theatre lamps and AV systems, was named as runner up in the News-Medical.net Innovation Award category.

Skipton-based Principle Healthcare International, one of the UKs leading vitamin, minerals and supplements producers, was named as runner up in the 24/7 Exhibition Services Export Achievement Award category.

North Duffield-based GBUK Ltd, which specialises in the manufacturing and distribution of medical devices, was named as runner up in The BioHub Birmingham Outstanding Achievement Award category.

Medilink UK is one of Great Britain’s largest healthcare technologies representative bodies, with a strong track record in increasing the viability of manufacturers, service providers, designers, OEMs and suppliers of medical technology.
